PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The primary objective of this educational initiative is to provide clinicians in primary care with the most up-to-date information regarding the presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of endometriosis.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

• Identify characteristics of female patients in whom increased incidence of endometriosis has been reported.
• Explain the role of direct visualization during laparoscopy or laparotomy to confirm the diagnosis of endometriosis.
• Outline hormonal interventions used for nonsurgical treatment of endometriosis.
• Describe surgical interventions for endometriosis, including improvement of fertility and addressing more severe disease manifestations.

Michele M. Roth-Kauffman, JD, MPAS, PA-C, is Chair of the Physician Assistant Department at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania.

4. complete the 15-question posttest by recording the best answer to each question; and
5. record their response to each of the additional evaluation questions.
